Romeinse Katacomben,  Plenkertstraat 55,  Valkenburg a/d Geul

Tijdens de lichtexpositie WISH in het Museum Romeinse Catacomben in Valkenburg is de lichtinstallatie KOMOREBI te zien van Yorinde Diepstraten en Jaap Beyleveld

Komorebi is a work that is driven by close involvement with research in astronomy and cosmology this provides the basis for the audiovisual installation. A major focus in this work is the study of the dark matter in the universe. Assuming the standard model of cosmology is correct, the best current measurements indicate that dark energy contributes 68% of the total energy in the present-day observable universe. The video plays with our small perception of the universe, using NASA’s database as a starting point. Spectators are surrounded by movements created by the video in relation to recorded sounds of everyday things that are hard to fathom. The quadraphonic sound absorbs your sense of the present, an immersion in space blends and rotates and this, in turn, upset our perception of the relationship between the self and space. Where are the boundaries between the inside and outside worlds?

As a spectator, you are surrounded by the 360-degree projections that take you through the empty spaces of the dark energy
